Lamor trains P&O management and field teams at Port of Caucedo, Dominican Republic

In October, Lamor delivered an on-site training, workshop and coaching programme for P&O’s management and field response teams at the Port of Caucedo, Dominican Republic. The work focused on practical skills and decision-making needed to manage oil-spill incidents in a busy container terminal environment.
P&O Maritime Logistics is a leading provider of marine solutions with a focus on offshore energy, port services and cargo transport. The Port of Caucedo, operated by DP World, is one of the Dominican Republic’s key container terminals and a vital hub for regional trade. Our training was delivered in close coordination with port stakeholders to ensure procedures match local operations and regulatory requirements.
The Lamor team developed a comprehensive training program that covered response strategies, operational and administrative control and equipment management. The sessions included practical exercises on reactive spill response, where participants deployed and operated containment and recovery systems in real conditions.
A dedicated workshop focused on developing tactical response plans for marine spills, featuring practical drills that brought together tug operators and response teams to enhance coordination and communication.
As a result, the training produced a defined set of manoeuvre plans for potential spill scenarios at sea, ready for inclusion in local contingency plans. Coordination between port operators, tug crews and response teams was strengthened, helping to ensure faster and safer operations in future incidents. The exercises also confirmed that azimuth tugs and specialised equipment can be effectively integrated into tactical responses when operated by trained personnel.
