Oil Spill Response Specialist

In India, we are strengthening our oil spill response services rapidly. In this role, you will play a crucial role in providing primary spill response, clean-up, and environmental support under the guidance of the Senior Oil Spill Response Specialist. Your main responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on oil spill equipment according to prescribed schedules, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist vessel crews during drills, training, maintenance, and oil spill operations.
  • Operate and deploy pollution-combating equipment effectively.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections at facilities as assigned.
  • Fulfil assigned "on-call" responsibilities on a rotational basis, if required.
  • Prepare Incident Command System communications and reports as necessary.
  • Participate in daily activities such as training, equipment maintenance, and deployment.
  • Perform any other duties related to storing and maintaining OSR equipment at workshops or OSR sites.


The best combination of experience, skills and personal qualities for the position:

  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience participating in response operations to oil pollution incidents or marine services.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician or similar role is advantageous.
  • Technical knowledge of internal combustion engines and hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations is essential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
