Soils in Challenging Conditions

Hosted by the State Institution “Soils Protection Institute of Ukraine”, the conference brings together global experts to address today’s most urgent soil-related challenges. Topics will span the impacts of conflict on land, climate adaptation, regenerative agriculture, digital soil monitoring technologies and international soil protection policies.

Lamor’s contribution: “War and Soil – Challenges and Ways to Restore”

Lamor’s expertise will be represented by Miikka Tunturi, who will deliver a presentation titled “War and Soil – Challenges and Ways to Restore”.

Drawing on Lamor’s extensive experience from large-scale soil restoration and hazardous site remediation projects in Kuwait, Miikka will share practical insights highly relevant to Ukraine’s evolving environmental recovery needs.

Although the climatic and environmental conditions in Ukraine and Kuwait differ greatly, both countries face comparable post-disaster challenges, including:

• Locating and safely disposing of unexploded ordnance
• Managing radioactive or hazardous waste streams
• Surveying and assessing large, contaminated areas
• Applying effective large-scale soil treatment and restoration methods

These shared challenges highlight the importance of international knowledge exchange as Ukraine prepares for long-term soil recovery following the destruction of industrial and energy infrastructure.

The event offers a valuable opportunity to learn how Lamor’s hands-on experience in complex environmental remediation is contributing to global dialogue and practical solutions for soil protection and restoration.
