Manta Ray Weir Skimmer
The Manta Ray skimmers are fixed weir suction head oil recovery devices. They work best with vacuum and positive displacement pumping systems, such as diaphragm pumps that have air handling capability.
The Manta Ray Skimmers are for use in calm waters and waters having non-breaking, short period waves not exceeding approx. 1ft (30cm) in height
Manta Ray skimmers perform best when used in thin slicks under relatively calm conditions where small debris is present. The skimmer’s top surface can be quickly opened while in operation to clear away any small debris allowing prompt return of the unit to efficient recovery rates.
Usage Areas

Preferred package solution

Oil transfer hoses can be supplied in variable lengths. The Diesel Powered LDP C75/3Y or the LTP M60 are recommended to power the Manta Ray Rigid 1” skimmer for the recovery of light to heavy oil viscosities. The LIP 400 or M300 H peristaltic hose pumps together with a suitable, approx. 6 kW power supply are suitable pump/power pack combinations to be used together with the Manta Ray Skimmers.
The skimming capacities of the Manta Ray skimmers have been certified by Bureau Veritas.
The LDP C75/3Y and the LTP M60 are compact diesel engines, joined to a powerful oil transfer pump, the Spate C75 pump. The integral Spate C75 pump is a self-priming double diaphragm pump with a maximum capacity of 30 m³/hr. The pump can handle solids up to 6mm in size, and all seals are constructed from synthetic rubber for protection against all oils encountered.
The LDP C75/3Y equipped with manual start is mounted on a tough and portable steel 2-wheeled site chassis with collapsible handle allowing for easy deployment.
The Lamor Collapsible Tank (LCT 7.6), with a capacity of storing 7600 liters, is recommended for temporary storage of recovered oil. e LCT is so designed that it represents a highly versatile method of tackling the challenges presented when having to recover and store oil in remote locations. The hexagonal shape of the tank allows for even distribution of weight.
The LCT fabric is constructed from durable PVC with excellent resistance to the effects of hydrocarbons and UV radiation. The tubular tank frame is manufactured from galvanized steel and provides a strong support for the tank fabric.
