JBF Dynamic Inclined Plane (DIP)

The JBF Dynamic Inclined Plane (DIP) takes advantage of the laws of physics to collect oil from the surface of water. A key benefit of the DIP skimmer is the combination of oil collection and separation into a single step. This fully maximizes the use of both pumping capacity and available storage by allowing the transfer of only oil from the collection well to storage.

The DIP maintains its high performance in thick oil slicks and in sheens with the additional ability of collecting oil at speeds greater than 3 knots. The proven JBF DIP skimming system has been thoroughly tested both in the field and in test tanks.

The DIP systems also incorporate debris removal and handling systems to allow operation in non-ideal conditions. An optional boom can be attached to the V sweep of the DIP system to increase the area of recovery.

Preferred package solution

The preferred package for the most efficient operation of a JBF Dynamic Inclined Plane (DIP) skimmer comprises of a Lamor GTA 30 oil transfer pump, coupled with a Lamor Power Pack LPP 35L. Oil transfer and hydraulic hoses can be supplied in variable lengths.

The Lamor GTA 30 pump is a multipurpose submersible Archimedes screw pump with a pumping capacity of 30 m³/h. The GTA pump range is constructed from robust seawater resistant aluminum for the casings and stainless, acid proof steel internals with special seals that ensure the pump remains “dry”. This hydraulically driven, positive displacement pump with low screw speed avoids further emulsification of the recovered product thus making further separation more efficient.

The Lamor Power Pack LPP 35L is powered by a 4 cylinder, water cooled Lombardini 35 kW diesel engine and serves as a multipurpose power pack designed for the flexible operation of many types of hydraulically operated oil spill clean-up equipment. Equipped with 2 hydraulic circuits, the Lamor LPP 35L can be used to power multiple equipment e.g. skimmer and oil transfer pump.
